To me the reverse mortgage was a blessing. I lost my husband & best friend who took care of the carpentry, yard and overall fixing. When he passed away, it was up to me to take charge and finances were at a minimum. My 95 year old mother moved in 2 years before Tom’s passing. We were planning on a new bathroom, one wasn’t adequate. We needed a second bathroom, shower installed in the main bathroom, roof repaired, fence repaired, and new garage door and tree removal. When we first contacted you we were impressed with the polite and informative conversation about reverse mortgages. We were also impressed with the HECM counseling and the depth of information about everything that could go right and wrong. The local representative was very knowledgeable and helpful with filling out all the forms. Then we took them to our family attorney who looked them over very carefully. The appraisal went very smooth and it wasn’t too long before we heard from you for a closing date. When the papers were submitted, we enclosed a sample check so that the cash request could be wired to our bank. The line of credit that we left for emergencies with the Bank of America sent us a statement showing interest already received! I would sum up our experience as a very professional and rewarding experience for seniors who needed extra income.

For us elderly people, Reverse Mortgage is one of the best things that ever happened. I want in my small way to speak out to the elderly home owners to tell them, someone cares, so listen up…
My dear husband who was very astute and hard working heard about Reverse Mortgages on television and called them. Our house was paid for, but he said, “Honey the credit card interest is really pulling us down financially”. We were driving an old 1986 car and vacations were limited. We talked to our children, who have homes in other states, and good jobs. My oldest son said, “Mom and Dad, go for it”. So my husband got in touch with a representative from your company. They were very helpful, and all the paper work was handled in a very professional way in the comfort of our very own home. We were in the process of receiving our check, when my beloved husband passed away. Before he died, he had picked out a new car for us. I watched him measure the car, to see if it would fit into our garage. He said, “Honey, this is the one for us.” The sales rep put a sold sign on our new car. It was a very hard thing to do when my son took me to pick up the car paid for by the money we received from our Reverse Mortgage. Without our contract from Upstate Capital, I would be selling our lovely home we worked so hard to pay for.

In July 2007, my beloved wife (Doris) passed away. I hadn’t been handling the financial business of the household. We had credit card debts and I was overwhelmed with bills, etc. I saw an article in AARP magazine about reverse mortgages. I called your agency in September 2008. My first contact was with Michelle. She was very professional and well versed in reverse mortgages. She was very helpful and taught me a lot. When your account manager contacted my wife and I about taking out a reverse mortgage on our house I had a lot of questions. Dave and Amanda always took the time to answer them. One of the good things about it was that everything was taken care of and we didn’t have to leave the house, even down to the closing. They also sent a notary to the house to sign all the papers and documents.

When I first asked questions, I was not yet 62, but they were answered and your loan officer called me back 1 year later. The people who were in contact with me were very pleasant. In the middle of the night I had questions on this Reverse Mortgage. I would leave a message with some worries about this type of mortgage and I WOULD ALWAYS RECEIVE A CALL BACK THE VERY NEXT DAY!!!! When I first heard about a Reverse Mortgage, I did not know much about it. I talked to a friend of my children. He is a financial planner. His advice was not good. He did not think it was a good idea. Some of the things he said did not add up. I called for information from your company. I checked over the information sent to me. I got a call from Jason to review the information I got. We went through all the information. He told me to call him anytime on any questions. I had a lot of questions. I called him back many times. I told him I was sorry for being such a pain. He said that he did not mind; glad that I called him back on things I should know. I wrote down everything and kept notes. He was great and came up with the right answers. Amanda called she was another great person. I called her back many times with questions about this and that. She always came up with the right answers. I was well pleased with both of them. I had to tell everybody that they were both the best.
The closing agent notary came out. She was also great. She took her time to explain everything. There was a lot to take in. The next day we went through everything. I had some more questions, so I called Amanda again and got my answers. I want to thank all three persons for their help and being so patient.
